Getting Started Wizard
The Getting Started Wizard guides you through the initial NetBackup configuration process.
Configuring a master server or media server is a similar process. However, VERITAS recommends configuring the master server before configuring the media server. This is to ensure that the master server will properly administer the media server.
The Getting Started Wizard is comprised of four separate wizards:
- The Device Configuration Wizard assists you in defining robots and drives available to NetBackup on available storage devices.
- Volume Configuration Wizard to configure media where data can be stored.
- Catalog Backup Wizard to configure a NetBackup catalog backup.
A catalog backup is mandatory in order to restore files and directories from a backup.
- Policy Configuration Wizard to create a backup policy. A backup policy specifies which clients are to be backed up, when the clients are to be backed up and which client files are to backed up.
These wizards can also be run individually outside of the Getting Started Wizard as needed. There are other NetBackup wizards that are not part of the Getting Started Wizard.
Before configuring NetBackup, make sure that you've performed the following actions:
