Wizard Screens Overview

The following table provides an overview of each screen of the wizard.

Wizard Screen What to Expect

Welcome

You should have all required hardware and operating system configuration completed before starting the wizard. The wizard does not do any of these tasks.

Device Hosts

You build a device host list (by adding or changing hosts) that the wizard will use to scan for attached devices.

NDMP Servers

If a device host controls an NDMP device, you must provide authentication information needed to access and configure the NDMP devices for each host that you specified in the Device Hosts screen.

Scanning Hosts

All hosts that you selected in the previous screens are scanned.

You may see a conflict error if the hosts that you selected to scan do not agree which host stores global device information.

Conflict Detected

The hosts that you selected to have the wizard scan do not agree on which host will store the global device information.

Backup Devices

A list of the devices discovered by the wizard is presented for you to verify. If the list matches your configuration, you can continue on in the wizard. If the list does not match your configuration, you must troubleshoot device issues.

Drag and Drop Configuration

A device tree is presented that allows you to fine tune your configuration if needed, by dragging and dropping drives.

You can also launch VERITAS SANPoint ControlTM to diagnose possible network problems that are preventing device discovery.

If you continue past this screen, you can no longer roll back your configuration to the original settings.

Updating Device Configuration

Any drag and drop configuration changes are saved, the Media Manager daemons/services are restarted, and a progress report is presented.

Configure Storage Units

Storage units are created for each media server (or SAN media server) and device found. This storage unit information is saved in NetBackup. If your configuration has no storage devices, you can configure a disk storage unit for NetBackup. This screen is skipped if all storage units are already configured.

Finished

The wizard is finished.
