DESC=This kernel module exposes via the linux hardware monitor sysfs interface (/sys/class/hwmon/) the energy counters that are reported via the Running Average Power Limit (RAPL) Model-specific Registers (MSRs) of AMD CPUs. NOTE: This allows a user with a local account to gain information on the CPU execution state, resulting in an information leak of sensitive data across security boundaries (CVE-2020-12912). However, in contrast to the msr module it restricts available operations to read of the energy power unit MSR, energy core MSR, and energy package MSR. But since this might be still sufficient to get information usable e.g. to guess what the CPU is doing, you must uncomment the module name in /etc/modules-load.d/amd_energy.conf to get the module loaded automatically on boot and probably change the group ownership of the related /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon*/energy*_{label,input} files.
